‘New York Innovation Marketplace’ Workshop to be Held at Brookhaven Lab, 4/25

UPTON, NY — As part of its ongoing Entrepreneurs' Foundation Workshop Series, the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory, in conjunction with the Long Island Forum for Technology, will host the rollout of the “New York Innovation Marketplace,” a web-based resource with information about accessing innovations and opportunities for commercializing, manufacturing, and distributing products based on these innovations. A workshop on how to use the new web resource will be offered free of charge to individuals, research organizations, and companies looking to bring new technologies to the marketplace, and will be held on Monday, April 25, from 1 to 7:15 p.m. at the Laboratory’s Brookhaven Center.

The workshop will be divided into two parts: “Overview of the New York Innovation Marketplace,” from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and “Hands-on Innovation Marketplace Workshop,” from 2:45 to 7:15 p.m. Anyone interested may register and attend the overview session. The hands-on workshop is intended for those with either ready-to market technologies or earlier-stage technologies who are interested in learning how to use the New York Innovation Marketplace to make connections with potential buyers or licensees.

Workshop leaders will help participants clearly articulate their ideas or examples in language that attracts buyers, licensees, investors, distributors, and manufacturers. Hands-on workshop participants will also learn how the New York Innovation Marketplace can support their commercialization planning efforts by developing market research reports that include annual sales forecasts, probability of success, fair market royalties, and much more.

All participants must register for the event by April 21 at this website: http://www.bnl.gov/imworkshop. All visitors to the Laboratory age 16 and over must bring a photo ID. For more information, call (631) 344-4919, or email cmichael@bnl.gov.

Other partners in providing this innovation resource for New York State include the New York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation (NYSTAR), and the Eureka! Winning Ways Team from the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Manufacturing Extension Program. Certified coaches and facilitators from Eureka! Ranch and presenters from across New York, including High Tech Rochester, will introduce and demonstrate the New York Innovation Marketplace. Entrepreneurs will learn how to present their ideas as easy-to-understand product or service concepts, accompanied by professional market research insights.
