Photon Sciences summer students, professors, and mentors

Nearly 50 college and high school students and professors arrived at Brookhaven Lab in June to start work on a wide variety of research projects in the Photon Sciences Directorate. The new arrivals include 12 GEM interns (stands for National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science, Inc.), 13 Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship students, six members of Faculty and Student Teams, and students in other Office of Educational Programs internships.

The students and professors will work alongside Photon Sciences employees in fields ranging from geology and environmental sciences to electrical and mechanical engineering. In addition, they’ll have the opportunity to attend scientific lectures, tour BNL research facilities, and participate in social activities like an ice cream social and talent show.
