Getting to and around New York

New York City is easily accessible through its three area airports: John F. Kennedy Airport, LaGuardia Airport, and Newark Liberty Airport. Rail access to Grand Central Station in Manhattan is readily available from numerous locations, including the airports. New York City has a dense network of subways, busses, as well as taxis that make getting around to virtually any location quick and easy.

  • Best Ways to Get To JFK - Catching the LIRR train from Manhattan to Jamaica, Queens and then catching the AirTrain from Jamaica to JFK Airport is the best way to JFK at any time of the day.

  • Uber and Lyft are alternatives to taxis and subways. Riders you will need to download their mobile app and sign-up in order to use these peer-to-peer or on-demand ridesharing services.

When booking your reservation, you may need to guarantee your room with a credit card. Check with your hotel about their cancellation policy and if they offer shuttle service.

Visa Information

Participants should check if they require a visa to enter the United States on the U.S. Department of State's U.S. Visas website.

Foreign travelers, who are citizens from certain eligible countries, may also be able to visit the U.S. for business (e.g. attend a scientific conference) or tourism for 90 days or less without a visa if they meet the Visa Waiver Program requirements. All eligible travelers who wish to travel under the Visa Waiver Program must apply for authorization on-line through ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization).
