Tsunami Benefit Concert at Brookhaven Lab, February 26

UPTON, NY - A benefit concert for the relief of the tsunami victims in south Asia will be held at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory on Saturday, February 26, at 7 p.m. in Berkner Hall. Sponsored by the BNL Music Club, the concert will feature a wide variety of local musicians. All concert proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross. All visitors to the Laboratory age 16 and over must bring a photo ID.
The performers include Larry Hunter, veteran singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who is a member of the blues/rock band Great Ceasar's Ghost; a Japanese drumming group, Ryu Shu Taiko, who offers an exciting blend of martial arts, folk dance and drumming; a talented, aspiring teen songwriter and singer Caitlyn Amanda, accompanied on guitar by songwriter-arranger Henry Diaz, a BNL Music Group member; as well as the Chaparrals, a local blues band featuring Brookhaven Lab's own Joe Carbonaro, vocals and harmonica; and Michael Herbert, bass, also a Brookhaven Lab employee.
Tickets for the concert cost $10 each for adults and $5 each for children 12 years old or younger and for students with a student ID. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Laboratory's Brookhaven Employees Recreation Association (BERA) store, or at the door on the evening of the performance. The BERA store is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays.
