Summer Music Festival at Brookhaven Lab, August 14
July 12, 2005
UPTON, NY - Sponsored by the BNL Music Club, the fourth annual outdoor summer music festival will be held at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory from noon until 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 14. Part of Brookhaven's Summer Sundays program, the free public concert will feature blues, rock, reggae, and a combination of drumming and martial arts.
The concert will be held on the lawn next to Berkner Hall, rain or shine. Visitors to the Laboratory age 16 and over must bring a photo ID. All concertgoers are advised to bring their own blankets or chairs. Also, the BNL Music Club encourages everyone to bring a nonperishable food item for the BNL Food Drive, which benefits local pantries in Brookhaven Town.

Featured live on stage at the concert will be Sam "Bluzman" Taylor, Long Island Music Hall of Fame inductee; Brookhaven employee George Bostick and Blues House, playing Chicago and electric blues; the Doug Gordon Band, featuring original classic rock; T-Man and the Aggression, a reggae band; and Ryu Shu Taiko, performing an exciting blend of martial arts, folk dance, and drumming.
Also, the Laboratory's free Summer Sundays program on August 14 will celebrate the World Year of Physics 2005 and the history of Brookhaven Lab. Arrive any time between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and see "Einstein and Beyond," a special magic show; hear talks on the history of Camp Upton, the U.S. Army Camp that was located on the Lab site during World Wars I and II; take a historical bus tour of the site; and see the Lab's glassblower at work. The Whiz Bang Science Show, fun for children and adults, will be shown at 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. For visitors' convenience, the cafeteria will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
