Afterlife
UPTON, NY - Afterlife: The Ultimate Progressive Rock Experience will perform in concert at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory on Saturday, March 25, at 8 p.m. in Berkner Hall. Sponsored by the BNL Music Club, the concert is open to the public. All visitors age 16 and over must bring a photo ID.
From Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Genesis, and YES - popular symphonic/classical rock groups in the early 1970s - to the New World/Art Rock music of bands such as Rush and Kansas and the neo-progressive songs of Asia and Saga in the early 1980s, Afterlife pays tribute to the golden era of progressive rock with performances of hallmark tunes from the masters. The progressive rock genre blends the driving energy of rock 'n' roll with the dynamics of symphonic classical music and jazz.
Afterlife recreates the sounds and aura from the 1970s by taking the audience on a journey featuring a light show combined with state-of-the-art, full-fidelity sound. They reconstruct the music note for note - from Emerson, Lake and Palmer's interpretation of Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" to the sounds of YES, including "And You and I" and "Heart of the Sunrise."
Tickets cost $15 each, and may be purchased in advance at www.ticketweb.com, or at the door on the evening of the performance. Call 631 344-3413 for more information. Brookhaven Lab is located on William Floyd Parkway (County Road 46), one and a half miles north of Exit 68 of the Long Island Expressway.
