Black 47 and MacTalla Mor in Concert at Brookhaven Lab, March 9

UPTON, NY - The Irish band Black 47 and Celtic Roots band MacTalla Mór will perform at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory on Friday, March 9, at 8 p.m. in a special concert to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Sponsored by the BNL Music Club, the concert will be held in the Laboratory's Berkner Hall, and it is open to the public. All visitors to the Laboratory age 16 and over must bring a photo ID.
Led by Irish author, playwright and songwriter Larry Kirwan, Black 47 is known for its Irish form of rock n' roll, which includes songs about such topics as the Northern Ireland conflict and urban unrest in New York. The band plays in such well-known Manhattan venues as the B.B. King Blues Club, and it has nine albums to its credit.

MacTalla Mór, Gaelic for Great Echo, is a national touring band featuring bagpipes, piano, percussion and vocals in a dynamic mix of traditional Celtic music, Roots rock, calypso, blues and jazz. The band's mix of traditional Irish and Scottish tunes, original songs, arrangements and driving rhythms creates an engaging blend of old and new. In addition to playing at music festivals and universities, the band has played at famous locales, such as Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. MacTalla has also been featured on TV, including appearances on ABC, NBC, and HBO.
