India's Diwali Festival to be Held at Brookhaven Lab, Nov. 17

UPTON, NY - To celebrate India's Diwali Festival, or Festival of Lights, the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory will present a program showcasing the rich culture of India through music, dance, food and other traditions on Saturday, November 17, at 2:30 p.m. in the Laboratory's Berkner Hall. Hosted by the BERA Indo-American Association at Brookhaven Lab, the event is open to the public. All visitors to the Laboratory age 16 and over must bring a photo ID.

Local artists, both amateur and professional, have volunteered their talents for the celebration, which is expected to continue until 8 p.m. Authentic Indian snacks during intermission and a semi-formal Indian dinner after the cultural program are included in the price of admission.

Tickets for the event cost $15 each for adults, $9 each for children 5-11 years old, $5 each for children 2-4 years old, and are free for infants. Reservations must be made by November 10. Reservations will be confirmed after full payment is received, and reserved tickets will be distributed at the door on the afternoon of the performance. Payment may be made online through PayPal, or by a check made out to BERA-IAA and mailed to S. Khalid, Brookhaven National Laboratory, P.O. Box 5000, Bldg. 725D, Upton, NY 11973. PayPal charges an additional transaction fee of 50 cents per ticket.
