Facilities and Operations Subcontracts
The PPM Facilities and Operations (F&O) Subcontracts Team plays a vital role in supporting the Laboratory through the following functions.
Construction Services
The team manages the procurement of all construction-related services, including new construction, renovations, repairs, and maintenance work — such as painting, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, civil, roofing, asbestos removal, and water tower maintenance — across buildings, structures, and other real property assets.
Architect-Engineer (A-E) Services
On the A-E side, the team oversees the acquisition of professional services related to the research, planning, design, and execution of facility projects. These services cover a broad range of activities, including but not limited to:
- Site investigations and surveys
- Planning and conceptual design
- Development of construction documents (plans, specifications)
- Cost estimating and value engineering
- Technical consultations and field inspection support
These services ensure that all aspects of real property design and development are expertly planned and executed.
Other Required Services
- Facility & Equipment Maintenance: Includes HVAC, plumbing, fire alarms/suppression, pumps, chillers, generators, and other systems, along with routine maintenance and monitoring services.
- Grounds & Site Services: Snow removal, pothole filling & sidewalk patching.
- Furniture & Office Support: Includes relocation of office furniture, demountable partitions, and equipment setup not tied to construction.
- Equipment & Utility Work: Manufacturer-installed equipment, utility company installations, rigging, and signage installation.
Materials, Components, and Systems Procurement
The team also procures materials, components, and systems required to support facilities and operations — from building materials and mechanical/electrical components to specialized systems essential for laboratory infrastructure.
