Summary

In this invention Brookhaven researchers described a segmented electronic data readout system that includes a bidirectional half-duplex communication circuit and a coordinate-based arbitration circuit. The communication circuit transfers event-triggered readout information from segmentation elements during a readout mode, and transfers write information to the segmentation elements during a write mode using shared communication lines. The communication circuit and arbitration circuit are integrated with the segmentation elements, thereby enabling independent autonomous event-triggered readout of information associated with the segmentation elements.
