The purpose of the Counterintelligence Program is to deter and neutralize foreign industrial espionage or intelligence activities in the United States directed at or involving DOE programs, facilities, technology, personnel, unclassified sensitive information, proprietary information, and classified matter.

Simply put, we protect DOE science and DOE assets which include all of our employees and guests from the sometimes very subtle efforts of state sponsored agents from stealing what belongs to the U.S. Government (taxpayer). These agents are sometimes unwitting and sometimes they are not foreigners.

We serve the Northeast Region, which includes Brookhaven National Laboratory, Brookhaven Site Office, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, Princeton Site Office, and the University of Rochester's Laboratory for Laser Energetics.
