NSLS Beamline Tenure Reviews
February 25 - March 7, 2008
On September 1, 2008, all beamline Agreements will expire. An Agreement is established between a Contributing User (CU) or Participating Research Team (PRT) and the NSLS to describe the privileges and obligations of both parties. Items specified by the Agreement include: allocation of beam time and laboratory space, maintaining and operating the beamline and its endstations, completion of the proposed scientific program, staffing of the beamline, making improvements in facilities, working jointly with the NSLS to promote the use of the beamline by General Users (GUs), making beamline facilities accessible to GUs at no charge, supporting GUs accessing the beamline facilities, and agreeing to follow NSLS policies regarding environment, safety, health, and quality at the facility. The Agreement is generally effective for three years, after which it can be renewed.
In order to make decisions on renewals for the next three-year term, covering September 1, 2008 through August 31, 2011, Beamline Review Committees will conduct their reviews of all beamlines between February 25 and March 7, 2008. Oral presentations will be given during this time, and summaries of recommendations will be made by the Beamline Review Committees to the NSLS Scientific Advisory Committee. The presentations and review materials will give a comprehensive view of each beamline's progress over the past three fiscal years (2007, 2006, and 2005) as well as describe future plans.
