The new generation of ultra high brightness storage rings, such as NSLS-II and MAX_IV, will offer exceptional properties to investigate fundamental properties of materials. This workshop is organized jointly between the National Synchrotron Light Source (NSLS) at Photon Sciences Directorate (PSD) of Brookhaven National Lab and the Swedish national synchrotron facility MAX-Lab. The aim of the joint NSLS – MAX-lab workshop is to explore opportunities for research into magnetism and novel magnetic materials enabled by such high-brilliance, stable x-ray sources. The scope of the workshop will encompass three primary themes: (A) Dynamics in magnetic systems and nanostructures, (B) Interface and Near-interface magnetic ordering and related effects in complex oxides, and (C) New materials and engineered magnetic systems. Attendance is by invitation.
