2020 Merit Award Winners

  • Ron Belmont: for outstanding research exploring signatures of QGP formation and evolution of hydrodynamics from heavy-ion collisions to small systems.
  • Jin Huang: for wide-ranging and impactful contributions to the RHIC and EIC programs spanning detector developing, proposals of new observables, and analyses of spin asymmetries, heavy favor production, and azimuthal anisotropies.
  • Sooraj Radhakrishnan: for exceptional contributions and leadership in the measurements and analysis of open heavy flavor production and flow with the STAR collaboration.
  • Nihar Sahoo: for pioneering contributions to the development of direct photon triggering techniques and their applications to the study of jet quenching in heavy-ion collisions.
  • Yusuke Sakai: for outstanding achievements and leadership in the field of inversed Compton scattering at the BNL Accelerator Test Facility.
  • Shubash Singha: for his pioneering experimental and phenomenological research on collectivity and vector meson global spin alignment and for service to the STAR collaboration.
  • Guannan Xie: for playing a leading role in the commissioning of the Heavy Flavor Tracker (HFT) detector of the STAR experiment and performing key physics measurements with this detector
  • Qian Yang: for his valuable contributions to instrumentation, in particular to the STAR experiment's inner Time Projection Chamber (iTPC) upgrade and to the STAR heavy flavor physics program.
  • Jinlong Zhang: for outstanding contributions to the STAR Experiment's cold QCD program, in particular for his role in key measurements revealing the importance of the sea quarks contribution to the proton spin.
