Advanced Ultrafast Optical Probes Group
The Advanced Ultrafast Optical Probes Group has the broad scientific goal of using light to interrogate the properties of quantum matter, ranging from materials with strong electronic correlations to nanoscale objects subject to quantum confinement, both in- and out-of-equilibrium.
To this end, we utilize tabletop light sources across the electromagnetic spectrum (terahertz - ultraviolet) to implement optical “pumps” and advanced spectroscopies. A specialty of our lab is the development and application of multidimensional coherent spectroscopies, optical analogues of nuclear magnetic resonance, at both terahertz and optical frequencies to probe quantum matter at their fundamental energy scales.
