If you live in Mt. Sinai, Sound Beach, Miller Place, or Rocky Point, you are able to choose your library depending on your address. i.e. Miller Place residents can choose Comsewogue or Port Jefferson Village; Longwood Schools use Longwood Library; Mastics/Moriches/Shirley use the Shirley Library. You must bring proof of address to obtain a library card. All of the libraries have wonderful children/family/career/and other adult programs that are normally free or low cost.

Longwood Library, Route 25 in Middle Island

The BNL Research Library has arranged library privileges for our BNL onsite residents at the local Longwood Public Library. The Library has many programs for children as well free or discounted tickets to museums and attractions.

The Longwood Library is located at 800 Middle Country Road (Route 25), west of the Rocky Point Road and Middle Island Road intersection.

To request Longwood Library courtesy card privileges, e-mail User Services or call Ext. 3483. We have just updated application process to an electronic format via DocuSign.

Those living onsite must contact us via email or phone and we can start the process.

The Library card(s) will be mailed to the person making the request onsite within 3-5 business days.

Local Schools

The New York State public school system runs from September to June of the next year. Each school has their own admission requirements. To register a student one should bring an official record from the school the student last attended, and medical records showing immunization shots and medical history.
