Medical Insurance

The medical plan through Aetna provides benefits for medical coverage. There are four programs available to employees: three Point of Service (POS) programs and a High-Deductible Health Plan with a Health Savings Account. The three POS programs are also available to non-Medicare eligible participants receiving the BSA Limited Plan benefits and their covered family members.

Prescription Drugs

With the Aetna program, the amount you pay for prescription drugs depends on the drug your doctor prescribes and the medical program in which you're enrolled. The program includes a mail order drug program where you can have your medications delivered directly to your home.

Health Savings Accounts

A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a medical savings account available to those enrolled in Aetna Plan 4. The funds contributed to an HSA are not subject to federal income tax at the time of deposit. HSA funds may be used to pay for qualified medical expenses at any time without federal tax liability or penalty.

Vision & Hearing Care

Aetna covers medically necessary vision care. In addition, anyone with a Laboratory ID badge (and their family members) can obtain discounts for vision care, eye exams, eyeglasses, contact lenses, etc. through National Vision, Inc. Aetna also provides coverage for hearing aids.
