Testing Facilities

The Superconducting Magnet Division has facilities for testing magnets at 4.2 K (liquid helium).  The test dewar is 6.1 m deep and has a diameter of 71 cm.  Currents as high as 22 kA are available.  The Division also has probes for measuring magnetic fields.  Rotating coils with diameters ranging from 25 mm to 160 mm and lengths ranging from 0.3 m to 4 m are available.  The typical accuracy of these probes is 1 part in 10,000 at 2/3 of the magnet inner radius.  Hall and NMR probes are also available.
