Shuttle Service

NOTE: Face covering is required for use of any shuttle or transportation provided, and the Stony Brook/BNL Shuttle remains suspended until further notice.

Ronkonkoma Train Station Shuttle - Reservation is required:

  • Monday-Friday Shuttle to/from Ronkonkoma Train Station. Departure is from Bldg. 400 Bus Stop on the Bell Ave. side of the building.
  • LIRR Train departing NYC at 8:14 am / Arrive Ronkonkoma at 9:37 am (Shuttle leaves BNL at 8:30 am).
  • Depart Ronkonkoma at 6:27 pm / Arrive NYC at 7:44 pm (Shuttle leaves BNL at 5 pm).
  • Please call Ext. 2714 to make a reservation.
  • Make sure that you're authorized for BNL site access and return to work before coming to BNL.
  • Note: Social distancing inside the van and a face covering will be required.

On-Site Shuttle:

  • The BNL on site Shuttle will operate from 8am-7:30pm Monday-Friday.
  • Please call Ext. 2714 to arrange pick up.

On-site Courtesy Shuttle

The On-site Brookhaven Lab Courtesy Shuttle offers on-call, door-to-door service between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. and from 8:45 p.m. until 9:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

Requests are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Be prepared to meet the van at the main entrance of your building. In order for us to be able to serve as many customers as possible, please be ready to board the van before making the call for pickup.

Provide your name, telephone extension, location of pickup, location of drop-off and number of passengers.

Ronkonkoma LIRR Train Station Shuttle

A Laboratory vehicle operates five times per day, Monday through Friday, with the exception of holidays and when BNL is officially closed, to transport visitors and guests of BNL to and from the Long Island Railroad Ronkonkoma Train Station.

You may reserve in person at the Transportation Counter in Building 400A; or email transportation@bnl.gov.

All shuttles will depart from the rear of the main entrance of Bldg. 400 on Bell Avenue to the Ronkonkoma Train Station.

All passengers on arriving trains must exit to the north side and wait on street level in front of the Long Island Railroad Ticket Office. The shuttle will only wait ten (10) minutes from the time the train arrives for any passengers going to BNL.

Due to limited seating, reservations are required for this service. Please call ext. 2535; reserve in person at the Transportation Counter located in Building 400A; or email transportation@bnl.gov.
The shuttle departs promptly.

The Courtesy Service will only accommodate bags/parcels that fit on the passenger's lap or beneath their seat.

Shopping Shuttle

The Shopping Shuttle does not operate on December 24, 25, 31, January 1, *July 4, and are only available on Saturdays until further notice!

The Shopping Shuttle is a courtesy shuttle that makes multiple trips between BNL and the Southport Shopping Center (pdf). Sunrise Coach Lines operates this courtesy shuttle.

The time and place of the first shuttle pick up on Saturdays is as follows:

  • 12:00 Noon Depart Stop & Shop Supermarket for Final Return to BNL.

*The shopping shuttle will not operate on BNL Holiday July 4, 2020 Saturday, but rather on Thursday 7/2/20 from 5pm-8:30pm.
