General Lab Information

Transportation Services

The Laboratory Transportation Office, located at the Science and User Support Center (SUSC), Bldg. 101, is available to assist employees, guests and visitors with transportation needs in support of Laboratory programs. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Contact the Office at Ext. 2714.

On-site and off-site courtesy shuttles are available. The on-site Courtesy Shuttle offers on-call, door-to-door service on campus between 8 a.m. and 9:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. The LIRR Ronkonkoma shuttle operates Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

Trasportation Services maintains vendor contracts for school bus and coach bus rentals for on and off site tours and events. School bus requests are charged by the hour, with a minimum of 4 hours. Coach buses are recommended for any long distance or out-of-state trips for large groups.

Car rentals are available through Enterprise and Hertz. Anyone wishing to rent a vehicle must possess a valid driver's license and hold a major credit card. All vehicle rentals must be made in advance of the day needed.

All employees, guests, users, and visiting researchers can use the Lab's electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Level I and II charging stations are available for personal vehicles from 7 a.m. to 3:30 pm. Government electric vehicles take priority.

To make it easier to travel across the Laboratory's expansive campus, there are two bicycle loan programs available to help get you where you need to go: short-term bike sharing, and long-term bike borrowing.

Lab employees can use the 511NYRideshare Program to find a rideshare partner. To get started, register and create a ridematch profile with your contact details, commute schedule, and preferences. Then, use the matching service to connect with potential partners and arrange a ride.
