Equipment Catalog
NanoIR/s-SNOM
Proximal ProbesCategory: Proximal Probes Full Catalog
The NanoIR instrument is capable of performing both scattering-type scanning near-field optical microscopy (s-SNOM) and photothermal infrared spectromicroscopy (PTIR) with a spatial resolution of 10nm in tapping mode and 50nm in contact mode. The combined AFM and laser system is capable of point spectroscopy, chemical mapping, and hyperspectal imaging. The instrument can also perform nano thermal analysis (nanoTA) of samples up to 400 degrees Celsius to look at melt characteristics and phase transitions with spatial resolution on the order of tens of nanometers. The instrument is currently equipped with 6 quantum cascade lasers covering the majority of the region from ~850 to ~2250 wavenumbers with both pulsed and CW operation. The system typically operates at ambient, but the environmental enclosure can be employed to control humidity and gas composition around the sample and tip.
