Remote Sample Translation Table

To improve the efficiency of sample exposure, some experimenters have made use of the remote translation table.  This is a four foot long aluminum table with 1/4-20 threaded mounting holes placed in a 1"x1" optical table grid across the surface.  The table can be remotely driven across the beam to move samples into and out of the beam without need of an access.  In some instances, this can save a great deal of beam time, with 10-12 samples being exposed per access.  Controls for the table are driven by a simple GUI that the experimenter uses, with the assistance of NSRL staff.  The translation table can be combined with a platform allowing adjustable height.
