Ranjith Krishna Pai

Soft / Bio Materials: Nanomaterials

Ranjith Krishna Pai received a first class B.Sc. degree in Polymer Chemistry from Kerala University in 1998 and a M.Sc. degree in Chemistry (Polymer Science as major) from Mahatma Gandhi University, India in 2001. He was awarded a Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2005 from the University of Ulm. He was elected to a Graduate College Fellowship at University of Ulm, Germany from 2002 to 2005. Between 2006-2007, he has been post doctoral scientist in the Center for Advanced Interdisciplinary Research in Materials at University of Chile, Santiago working on synthesis and characterization of biomimetic materials for biomedical applications. In 2007-2009 he became a post doctoral scientist in the Material Chemistry Research Group at Stockholm University, Sweden working on molecular interactions between inorganic and organic moieties on biomimetic interfaces. Ranjith Krishna Pai was awarded the Postdoctoral Fellowship from Chilean Council for Science and Technology (FONDECYT), University of Chile in 2006 and the Carl Trygger Foundation for Postdoctoral Research by the grant CTS 04:184, Stockholm University, Sweden in 2007.
Ranjith Krishna Pai's research efforts will provide an interdisciplinary research environment and goal is to use biological principles as guidance in developing new, bio-inspired synthetic routes and nanofabrication strategies that would lead to advanced materials and devices. His current research interests are in the use of ultrasensitive microscopic methods for biological and material science studies, in particular energy and electron transfer.
